Tnemec Company, Inc. manufactures industrial and architectural protective coatings for a wide range of infrastructure, utility, and specialty applications, including water tanks, wastewater treatment plants, and architectural structures. Founded in 1921, the company now offers over 120 products, including the StrataShield line of resinous floor and wall coatings and Chemprobe water repellents for concrete, masonry, and wood. Tnemec operates manufacturing facilities in Kansas City, Missouri; Baltimore, Maryland; Dallas, Texas; and Shanghai, China, with distribution centers in Atlanta, Georgia; Dallas, Texas; Indianapolis, Indiana; New Orleans, Louisiana; Seattle, Washington; and Compton, California.
In 2024, Tnemec reported robust growth across its operations, citing strong performance in multiple product segments and a strategic approach to business expansion. The company noted particularly successful outcomes from acquisitions of Tex-Cote, ProPolymer and Epoxytec, as well as the launch of Series 21 Epoxoline — described as one of the most successful product introductions in its history. The StrataShield flooring line continued to see sustained growth. Tnemec attributes its financial success to a combination of conservative fiscal discipline, high production volumes, and inventory control.
Notes: In June 2024, Tnemec announced Glenn Hauser as an AMPP Coatings Inspector Program instructor, expanding its role in coatings education and corrosion prevention.
In July 2024, the company appointed Katie Duda as Director of Industrial Products to lead growth in containment liners, CUI solutions, and specialized coatings.
In August 2024, Cloverdale Paint and Tnemec Company entered an exclusive distribution agreement covering Western Canada, expanding access to Tnemec’s industrial coatings portfolio.
In October 2024, Tnemec promoted podcast host Jack Walker to Technical Marketing Manager, where he will continue leading the company’s “Coatings Decoded” podcast.
In November 2024, the company appointed Mike Branch as Sales Director of National Accounts, bringing over 35 years of coatings industry experience to support the company’s strategic growth and customer engagement initiatives. The company also named a municipal water tank in Grand Prairie, Texas, as its 2024 Tank of the Year, recognizing its standout design, community significance and use of Series 700 HydroFlon fluoropolymer coatings.
